India has recorded high sales in November as well
riding high on the success of Chevrolet Optra
and Chevrolet Tavera. The company has shown consistent
performance month after month this year. This
impressive performance has resulted in a whopping
98% increase in sales during November 2004 as
compared to 1260 units during the same month last
year. The company has also recorded 76 per cent
growth in the first eleven months of 2004 compared
to the same period last year. The unprecedented
turn around in Optra and Tavera sales is attributed
to an overwhelming response and word of mouth
the company has received from valued customers
across the country.
During the month of November 2004, the company
has sold 2495 cars as against 1260 cars in the
same month last year registering a growth of 97.94
%. These include 605 units of Chevrolet Optra,
1460 units of Chevrolet Tavera and 421 units of
Opel Corsa.
Between January and November
2004, the company sold a total of 23,763
cars as against 13,505 cars in the same
period last year to record a 75.96 per cent
growth in YTD sales. These include 8671
Chevy Optras in Entry ‘D’ Luxury sedan segment,
7960 Opel Corsas and 6950 units of the recently
launched new generation premium multi-utility
vehicle (MUV) Chevrolet Tavera branded as
the comfortable Family Car.
Commenting on the impressive
performance, Mr. P. Balendran, Vice President
(Corporate Affairs) said, “our performance
has reinforced the faith our valued customers
have in Chevrolet’s brand promise. This
is a clear manifestation of people’s confidence
in our products and their attributes
in terms of styling, engineering, driveability
and performance. The record sales also testifies
the growing popularity of the Chevrolet
brand in India. We will continue to make
world class vehicles to give the Indian
consumer the best vehicles in a wider range,
he said.

Besides, the Chevrolet Tavera and Optra,
GM India manufactures the Opel Corsa, Corsa
Sail and Swing at its facility in Halol,
Gujarat. GM India also sells the imported
Vectra in addition to the Chevrolet Forester.
